I love that you are going to be all over this at book club, Shannon!! Chase Perlman is at least cool; that girl sounds NOT COOL AT ALL. Who shows up at book club and doesn’t put her phone away? It’s BOOK CLUB!!!! (And who uses the barking option on their phone? The worst!!) I don’t blame you for being bummed. You worked hard and I gotta tell you, all that food you made sounds amazing. She needs to know what’s what. You can’t let her get away with that! You need to let me know what happens next week. Chase Perlman her! Everyone will love you for it and she won’t know what hit her. It will be EPIC (but probably not as epic as your desserts.)

Sharing this with my bookclub and adding new rule to bookclub night – no phones! We met for the first time in months last week and everyone was looking forward to a terrific night of wine, catching up and of course talking about the book (not really about the book- it wasn’t great and we really had a lot of catching up to do) but one of the new ladies couldn’t put her darn phone down – nor did she silence it so every time she got a text an annoying dog barked to notify her. She didn’t pick up any subtle clues to put it away either. Now I will tell you I worked my butt off to host this “epic” night – the food was fabulous, the sangria was perfect and the deserts were prize winning (OK – perhaps I exaggerate since I was the hostess but you get the idea)…..for some (including me) it’s really the only grown up night of the month and i had my parents babysitting both the toddler and her partner in crime -the dog so it was supposed to be perfect. Until the sangria swilling Chase Perlman showed up and refused to leave! So no more cell phones at book club – we need to gossip,eat, drink and talk about books in a relaxing environment and barking phones are distracting! Thanks Robyn.
